Spring 2020
No Kid Hungry Conference - The 9th annual NC Child Hunger Leaders Conference, featuring educators, nutrition professionals, elected and appointed officials, community leaders and others who are working daily to fight for hungry students in North Carolina.
EdCamp Equity - An “Unconference” for educators, by educators with a specific focus on equity in education. Led by K12 educators from Wake County Public Schools and #NCed.
Summer 2019
CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - Nonviolent crisis intervention training taught best practices to manage challenging situations and disruptive behaviors. This training provided ways to identify at-risk individuals and use nonverbal and verbal techniques to defuse aggressive behavior including safe last resort holds.
Four Disciplines of Execution - A two-day training using The Leader in Me by F. Covey training guide to reiterate the 4 roles of Great Leaders including modeling, path finding, aligning and empowering. This training also provided a deep dive and discussions around Four Disciplines of Execution by Chris McChesney, Sean Covey and Jim Huling.
AEI Field Experience, Washington, DC - A three-day training that included think tank panel discussions centered around Educational Policy from various perspectives as well as a debrief of the strategies outlined in the book Cage Busting Leadership presented by Rick Hess.
NCSU Leadership Seminar - A two-day training provided through NCDPI which included a Leader's overview for the Reading Research to Classroom Practice and Math Foundations training and information about effective inclusion and co-teaching practices to implement in the school setting.
Spring 2019
Maxwell Leadership Conference - A conference that used the book, Leadership Gold by John Maxwell, to refine our leadership skills and helped us develop our why, create a goal, and map out a plan to achieve our goal. In addition, this retreat focused on ways to identify our triggers and how to manage them in the moment.
Racial Equity Part 2- Retreat that laid the foundation for change and left a call for action to be answered by us as future leaders.
LGBTQ- A half day training that focused on the equity and understanding of the LGBTQ community and action steps to take as future leaders as we encounter people from this community.
Time Management Training - A short training that provided key ways to maximize our time. It taught the value of goal setting and planning for success and how important it is to fill our time with the big rocks first.
Fall 2018
Racial Equity - Retreat which allowed participants to face unintentional biases and develop of sense of self and how each individual sees the world. Understanding of perspectives and valuing differences was encouraged.
Digital Storytelling - A retreat which prompted all participants to find their why for educational leadership and to value and take ownership of their own stories.
Ron Clark Academy Teacher Training in Atlanta, Georgia - A two day training which demonstrated the value of school culture and the impact it can have on daily instruction, interaction and student success. Dynamic teaching practices, lively instruction and out of the box engagement practices were shared.

Crucial Conversations - Provides individuals with effective communication strategies to engage in crucial conversations in the workplace as well as the home or community environment.
Poverty in Education -Opens the eyes of educators to the challenges poverty brings to education and how to empower all learners to become successful.
Understanding By Design - A framework for improving student achievement where the teacher's critical role is designer of student learning. It works within the standards-driven curriculum to help teachers clarify learning goals, devise revealing assessments of student understanding, and create effective and engaging learners by activities.
Restorative Discipline - Encourages educators to take a second look at how we approach discipline, teaching and reinforcing the importance of social emotional skills.
Ropes Course and Speed of Trust - Develops strong bonds among groups of people through physical tasks that require collaboration and teamwork to complete.
Make It Stick - Shares the science behind learning including effective strategies that work when learning new information.
Literacy Training at The Hill Center in Durham - Informed future leaders the importance of literacy at all ages and introduced strategies to implement effective literacy time school wide.
Emotional Intelligence - EI is the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others. EI can be developed through training and will help improve interactions with others.
BB&T Leadership Training - Allows learners to identify their leaderships strengths and the value that offers when in a leadership role.
Teach Like a Champion/First Days of School - Two books that are great resources for beginning teachers and their mentors to assist with some of the behind the scenes needs teachers have.
Flipped Classroom - Encourages lead learners to make the most of every minute by preparing videos to share prior to instruction.
Steven Covey Book Study- Identifies the seven habits of highly effective people and how to put those habits into practice.
Dale Carnegie Book Study - Reinforces the skills needed to interact with people and encourage others to engage in relationships.
